Mastery of the skill of reading yellow books is a fundamental aspect in Islamic boarding school education, because it is the basis for understanding classical Islamic literature in bare Arabic (without harakat). However, at the Al-Muslim Bireuen Islamic Boarding School, there are still many students who have difficulty reading and understanding the contents of yellow books independently. This community service activity aims to strengthen the skills of reading yellow books for students through the application of the sorongan and bandongan methods, which are traditional methods but have proven to be effective. The sorongan method emphasizes individual reading practice in front of the teacher with direct guidance, while the bandongan method is carried out by the teacher reading and explaining the contents of the book to the students collectively. This activity was carried out for three months through intensive training, mentoring, and periodic evaluations. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in the students' ability to understand the structure of classical Arabic sentences, recognize the function of nahwu-sharaf, and read yellow books with more confidence. With the combination of these two methods, strengthening yellow book literacy can be done gradually and comprehensively. This activity also strengthens the role of Islamic boarding schools as centers for the development of Islamic sciences based on turats.
